  • The first call will cover Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi, and will be one call for all three countries.

    The second call will cover (Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Malawi) also be one call and will cover the remaining countries

    Funding is not allocated per country.

  • Yes, the application will be done online. The link to the application form is on the website.

  • The call will be open for 4 weeks and will close on 31 March 2022.

  • If an applicant is successful, Intellecap expects them to have commitment letters for the sources of matching funds during contracting.

    Actual matching funds will then be linked to the drawdown and will be equal to the funds requested at the time of drawing down funds.

  • Upon contracting, part of the assessment will be to understand the SME’s technical assistance and fundraising needs. This will undergo a rigorous assessment to properly link SMEs with relevant potential funders.

  • Matching funds can be in the form of equity from shareholders, commercial loans, grants from other funders (but cannot be from The Rockefeller Foundation).

  • Intellecap’s team will support applicants in preparation of financial models and budgets, however the support will only be guidance, and the actual preparation of the proposal, financial model and budgets will done by the applicant.

  • All applications will be made via the online platform, Zoho. Intellecap will not accept hard copy applications.

  • Yes, SMEs are free to enter into partnerships/ consortiums, however the application will be made by the lead partner, with whom Intellecap will contract if their application is successful.

  • Disbursements will be made based on achievement of agreed upon milestones, and any other requisite conditions as may be agreed between the successful applicant and Intellecap.

  • Yes, this is possible if the SME is registered in more than one country, however the SME can only be contracted in one country.

  • Successful applicants will also benefit from technical assistance (business advisory) support, capital facilitation support, monitoring and evaluation assistance and learning and exchange forums.

  • Milestones will be discussed and agreed between the applicant and Intellecap.

  • We anticipate to finalise the selection process and commence contracting of successful applicants by 31 May 2022
